Nikhil Dwivedi ended up with a fracture on the sets of his current film delaying the schedule of his next.

While shooting for a chase sequence for Vivek Agnihotri’s film in New Delhi, Nikhil Dwivedi ended up with a fractured hand. In the sequence, a few men were chasing the actor, eager to kill him. A unit source says, “We were shooting in Chandni Chowk. The scene was being shot on rooftops, with Nikhil jumping from one roof to another. And finally, he jumps to the ground, where he pushes a guy on a cycle and continues running.” The timing of the collision with the man on the cycle went off the mark, sending the actor to the ground. The source adds, “To save himself from injury, he took the fall on his hands. But the angle in which he fell, put his weight on his right hand. After that, he was in pain and his hand has swollen up.”

But the actor seemed to be in no hurry to get medical attention as he was keen to complete the shoot. However, after pack-up, the actor was rushed to the nearest hospital. That’s when Nikhil and his team realised he had fractured his hand.

Nikhil says, “When I fell, I heard a crack, I got the feeling that it’s a fracture. My doubts were confirmed later, when, at the end of the chase sequence I reach a phone booth and pick up the handset. It just dropped, I couldn’t hold it with my hand.” With the actor’s hand in the cast, next day’s action was ruled out. “Primarily to rest a little,” says the actor who stopped popping painkillers on Tuesday. Fortunately for the film Hate Story, it’s set in winter. Full-sleeved jackets and gloves are helping Dwivedi to camouflage his cast from the camera. The injury has delayed the schedule of Nikhil’s other film, Tamanchey, too. “We were to shoot from December 12, but now it’s been put off by a few weeks because I can’t hide the cast from the camera,” he says.Hiren Kotwani Midday
