Most of them are playing roles that are similar to their responsibilities towards their celeb employers in real life.

Members of the entourage of several Bollywood stars seem to have been bitten by the acting bug. Staff members working for Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt’s are doing cameos in films where their bosses play lead roles. Priyanka Chopra and Raveena Tandon’s real-life secretary Chand Mishra recently shot for a cameo in Kunal Kohli’s next Teri Meri Kahaani that stars Shahid Kapoor and Piggy Chops. Mishra confirms, “I played the same role I play in real life, as Priyanka’s secretary. It was fun. I shot for nearly 12 days. I was a bit nervous on the first day but then I started enjoying it.”

He adds further, “I thought they were joking when the production team called to cast me. But when the direction team also called and asked me to block 12 dates and took my dress trial, I realised they were serious about it. When I asked Priyanka about it, she told me that I am best suited for the role and I just have to be myself in front of the camera.”

Mishra whose scenes were mostly with the actress said she was very supportive. So is this a one off case or is he open to more acting offers? “I came to Bombay almost four decades ago with a dream of becoming a singer and an actor. I am finally getting to do what I dreamt of,” says Mishra who believes in the power of destiny.  He also claims that even Kareena’s secretary’s role in Heroine is modelled on him. “Madhur has written the role keeping me in mind. Govind Namdeo (who plays the role) met me to prepare for it.”  Ranbir Kapoor’s trainer Pradeep Bhatia and his bodyguard Sandeep Jadhav also played a cameo in his recent film Rockstar. This is not the first time that Bhatia has made an appearance on screen. “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani was the first film I did a cameo in. I also did a small part in Anjaana Anjaani. I do it for fun and have no desire to be an actor,” He says. As reported ‘Dutt makes driver play Mallika’s dad’ (Hitlist, June 14), Sanjay Dutt’s chauffeur Prasad played Mallika Sherawat’s father in Double Dhamaal. Having been part of the Dutt household for ages (he

has been driver to Sanjay’s mother Nargis, as well as to his sister Priya when she was a student), Prasad felt his boss’s acting skills had rubbed on to him.
