The following information and images are about peace symbols, peace signs and motifs from around the world। These symbols all mean the same thing and are displayed to assist  in the breaking down of cultural and language barriers। They all have the same goal of promoting and allaying messages of peace in the world। The Anti Nuclear Emblem The anti-nuclear emblem or the peace sign is one of the most widely known symbols in the world। it was invented on the request of lord bertrand russel, head of the british ‘campaign for nuclear disarmament’ or CDN and sponsor of mass marches and sit-downs in london। the graphic symbol was designed by  gerald holtom, a member of the CND movement।
From a design point of view, it is interesting to note that the original sketches are preserved at the school of peace studies, at the bradford university। The Peace Dove / Dove of Peace

The peace dove is one of the most recognized symbols of peace। The white dove is prevalent as a symbol for peace in Islam, Christianity and Judaism belief systems। Even for non-believers, the dove does hold its own as a general hope for peace around the world। Its origins are from the story of noah and the ark। when the rains that flooded the earth stopped pouring down, noah sent out various birds to see if they would bring back any sign of land to his boat। He was anxious to begin life again on dry pasturage। One dove eventually returned carrying an olive branch।The Olive branch The olive branch has been identified as a symbol of peace for thousands of years। It is said than an olive trees takes a very long time to bear fruit and anyone cultivating them would have a long and peaceful life. So it seemed that growing olives was something that was pretty much impossible in a times of war। It also has connections with the peace dove। Shalom, Salaam, Peace This is an example of a peace symbol or graphic associated with the Arab-Israeli conflict। With the combining of three languages (Hebrew: Shalom, Arabic: Salaam and English: Peace) it comes to represent a hope for peace in the Middle East Region. Many variations of this peace sign are seen wall plaques and signs।

The PACE FlagThis peace symbol originated as a flag in Italy in recent years to protest against wars। The word "Pace" means "Peace" in Italian and Romanian. The flag consists of seven rainbow colors, which also signifies peace in certain religions। This sign has spread to be displayed in other countries, besides Italy, with the word "Pace" translated।Japanese Kanji Characters for PeaceThe above is the Japanese for Peace। Although not a world peace symbol it displays a want and hope for peace. Japan is the only country that has experienced the devastation of nuclear warfare and has many signs and landmarks of peace on it's soil for the world to be aware of। THE Peace craneWithin Asia the white crane is the bird of peace. Originally it was the sort of peace that comes with prosperity and friendship, such that war is not even considered। The crane took on even greater significance as a peace symbol within Japan right after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki।
