WWN says, “Apple’s iPhone saves every detail of it to a secret file on the device which is then copied to the owner’s computer when the two are synchronized”.

Site warns to its readers that if the phone is stolen softwares can discover details about the owner’s movements using a simple program.

Sometimes this stored data could be almost a year’s, as the recording of data seems to have started with Apple’s iOS 4 update to the phone’s operating system, released in June 2010.

Writer of the story Mr. Tap Vann  claims quoting a researcher Mr. Pete Warden, “Apple has made it possible for almost anybody – a jealous spouse, a private detective – with access to your phone or computer to get detailed information about where you’ve been”

Report goes specific about the iPhone as it says that only the iPhone records the user’s location in this way, none other phone does the same.

Researchers couldn’t find anything similar in Android phones that mean Androids are safe.

According to rules mobile networks always record phones’ locations but it should be only available to the police and other recognized organizations when a court orders for the same. Standard phones never record location data.

Apple’s phone is recording the data without user’s permission. WWN says that they tried to take Apple’s view but Apple team declined to comment.
